“Things We Made” is the title of architects/interior designers/all-up-wonderful-people Robin Standefer and Stephen Alesch’s new book. It showcases the last ten years of their work. It’s beautiful. And I’m in love with it for reasons far bigger than the fact that I wrote the introduction and much of the copy, though my ego and narcissism and general self-absorption are forever-a-knockin’. Why is that? Could it be related to my childless-at-46 status? Unfulfilled dreams that trace back to my competitive surfing days? The youngest of three brothers, thus I was always screaming for attention? See, I’m doing it again.
